The Review was focused at enhancing the applicable framework given the evolution of the A-Leagues (such as the introduction of VAR and expansion of MRP to A-League Women) and the broader industry landscape with respect to the models to propose sanctions efficiently and effectively for in match offences.

The Review involved a thorough analysis of the data trends, research of other relevant system across football and other codes both domestically and internationally, and extensive stakeholder consultation with FA Referees Department, A-Leagues clubs, the PFA, the APL and the MRP members. 

SAPA, working with the Football Australia team, developed a draft report outlining the key insights and proposed recommendations including regulatory changes for review and consideration.
