Supporting Football SA and Football West with Legal, Regulatory & Governance Matters
Engaged as outsourced in-house counsel, SAPA provides valuable and trusted support to both Football South Australia and Football West, advising and supporting on a wide range of legal, regulatory and integrity matters.
The breadth of our support covers negotiating and drafting commercial agreements, advising on legal disputes, ensuring effective corporate governance practices, reviewing and developing rules and regulations, developing policies and procedures, supporting relevant disciplinary and tribunal processes, and managing or guiding integrity investigations.
SAPA operates as an extension of the Football SA and Football West teams, with regular meetings with Football SA and Football West to ensure alignment and leverage our expertise and knowledge across sport to provide pragmatic, timely and effective support and advice.
SAPA is also actively engaged in a range of additional projects and matters for Football West and Football SA, including:
- The end-to-end management for tenders related to various services on behalf of Football West;
- Undertaking a comprehensive review and update of all Football SA Competition Regulations and Disciplinary& Judicial Body Regulations;
- The provision of legal advice and preparation of detailed submissions on behalf of Football SA to the Disciplinary Committee and Appeals Committee in relation to various disciplinary and appeal matters;
- The review of the Football SA Constitution, inclusive of recommending and drafting amendments to align to Sport Australia’s Sports Governance Standards;
- Developing various internal policies for Football West and Football SA;
- Drafting and negotiating of venue hire agreements relating to the Sam Kerr Football Centre managed by Football West;
- Advising on several historical integrity investigations and legal disputes.
