The aim of the Review was to better understand current trends that are affecting umpiring retention and umpire coaching to identify opportunities for improvement. The review encapsulated all sectors of WA umpiring, identifying trends in specific areas such as regional and women and girls’ umpiring.

The review, which provided 14 key insights and 10 key recommendations, also included a detailed analysis of the WA Umpire Coach Strategy, focusing on the recruitment, retention and support framework for umpire coaches.
